Life with an Otterhound

Otterhounds have a deep bay--a lovely melodious sound--that carries amazingly well.  Otterhounds are talented "singers" and will happily vocalize with other hounds & people. Many Otterhounds make adorable "Chewbacca-like" noises.

There are many rewarding &  fun activities for Otterhounds and their families:   Conformation, Obedience, Rally Obedience, Tracking, Agility, Therapy Dog, Canine Good Citizen, Meet the Breed, Search and Rescue, Junior Showmanship, K-9 Nosework, Barn Hunt and Lure Coursing.

With a double coat and a zest for collecting things in their fur and/or beard, the Otterhound requires routine grooming.  

In addition to regular preventative veterinary care, a balanced diet, clean/dry bedding in a draft free area, daily exercise, love and companionship will go a long way to keeping your pet healthy.
